Day 2: Festival Parade

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. This morning we set out for the 500 Festival Parade in downtown Indianapolis, where we have reserved seating. This is the 53rd Anniversary of the parade. This event includes nationally known celebrities, costumed characters, marching bands, patriotic units, specialty units, spectacular floats and giant helium balloons filling the streets to celebrate the world's largest single-day sporting event, the Indianapolis 500. The tradition continues with 33 starting drivers of the Indianapolis 500 serving as honorary grand marshals the day before the race, riding in the traditional rows of three, with 2008 winner of the pole position bringing up the rear. Festival Parade will pass nearly 300,000 spectators along its two-mile route. The parade is televised nationally on ESPN 2. After the parade, visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum at the track, along with some free time in downtown Indianapolis. Tonight, we have dinner at an Indianapolis restaurant. This morning, breakfast is at the hotel. We'll enjoy a police escort to the track before finding our reserved seating the North Vista for the 94th running of the Indianapolis 500. Fortunately, our parking is close to the seats. No other singular sporting event in the world has a legacy like the Indianapolis 500. It is the largest-attended sporting event in the world. At the track, we'll have a box lunch, along with a race program and pre-race entertainment. After an exciting day of racing, freshen-up back at the hotel before dinner at another great local Indianapolis restaurant. (B,BL,D)
