Do you accept credit and debit aboard the vessels?

 We do, with the exception of the Harbour Hopper as there are no items for sale on-board.

Do you accept WeChat and AliPay as forms of payment?

We currently accept WeChat Pay and Alipay as forms of payment in Murphy's the Company Store and Murphy's Restaurant & Patio.

Do you have to buy sightseeing tickets for a specific time/day?

We suggest booking in advance for a specific day, time and tour to secure your reservation. No space can be guaranteed without an advance reservation.

Do you have wheelchair accessible tours?

We are devoted to providing guests with the best tour experience. This year, we have introduced a new Harbour Hopper which allows for wheelchair accessibility for one wheelchair per tour. We require guests to contact us a week in advance so we ensure the schedule reflects the additional time to load and unload, and that the properly trained staff are on this tour. Please contact us directly with any questions regarding accessibility on the Harbour Hopper at 902-490-8687. 

Are dogs or other pets allowed on board your buses and vessels?

While we do not allow pets or other animals on board, we most certainly do allow trained service and guide dogs on board.

What kind of insurance coverage does Ambassatours have?

Ambassatours carries 10 million liability, and 5 million in umbrella.

What is Ambassatours' Safety Policy?

Here at Ambassatours, safety is our top priority.

We employ several safety training officers, who oversee the employment process and training of all motor coach operators. Robert Gillis, our lead examiner, has over 43 years’ experience in the motor coach industry. 

 

Ambassatours is a certified training facility for the Motor Vehicle Department of Nova Scotia. Our Safety Officer is certified to take a driver from Class 5 (automobile license) to Double Decker driver, to motor coach operator through our driver certification program.

All Operators must participate and graduate from the following programs (approx. 16 hrs of in-classroom training):

 

  • Professional Driver Improvement Course provided in-house with materials designed by Nova Scotia Safety Council.

  • Hours of Service Training provided in-house with materials designed by and supplied by Motor Coach Canada.

  • Pre and Post Trip Inspection training provided in-house with materials designed by and supplied by Motor Coach Canada.

  • Motor coach operator inspect the vehicle daily before and after each trip – 40-point check list to ensure there are no visible leaks onto the pavement, no under inflated tires, no damages or broken glass etc.

  • In-coach training of approximate 30 hours per driver with a ride-along instructor.

  • Final Driving Evaluation for certification and licensing.


On-going training:


All motor coach operators must participate in 12 hours of classroom training each year regardless of experience or length of employment with AGL.  Courses include defensive driving techniques, customer service training, hours of service, re-gen, winter driving and the addition of new vehicles to the fleet. In addition to all motor coach operators must successfully complete a Driver Evaluation annually.  

What is Ambassatours' maintenance protocol?

Our maintenance protocol is as follows:

  • All of our motor coach units are maintained at Maritime Motor Coach Service Center by 11 licensed mechanics, on duty Monday to Friday (2 mechanics are on-duty during the weekends in the summer and fall) to service our vehicles 24 hours a day.

  • In case of mechanical emergency, 1 mechanic is supplied with a cell phone and is on call 24 hours a day/7 days per week.

  • All vehicles are subject to ABC inspection by the Maritime Motor Coach mechanics crew.

  • An inspection is every 8000 Km. Fluid top ups and general inspection of the vehicle.

  • AB inspection is ever 16,000 Km. Fluid top ups, general inspection and exhaust system inspection.  

  • ABC inspection is every 120,000 Km. Fluid top ups, general inspection and transmission inspection.

  • Every 6 months the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board Inspectors perform a detailed inspection of each of our vehicles. The purpose of the inspection is to ensure that each vehicle is safe to transport our passengers. The inspection is like a provincial motor vehicle inspection; however, motor coach inspections happens twice a year against a set of stringent regulations. In addition, inspectors can do road side inspections at anytime.

  • Annual “wheel pulls” (checking braking mechanisms) are done and inspected by the provincial inspectors.

 

Are your busses equipped with Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi can be added for an additional fee of $49.50 a day.

What size are your busses?

We have various bus sizes ranging from 15, 24, 27, 47, 56, 74 and 81 passengers.

Where do your buses travel?

We travel anywhere in Canada and the United States.

Are your buses equipped for winter travel?

Yes, all vehicles have winter tires and our winter drivers have to participate in an extensive winter driver training course that exceeds industry standard.

Do your buses have DVD players?

Yes - the majority of our fleet have DVD players. You may request to have a DVD player for your charter.

What is your smoking and alcohol policy?

Under Canadian law smoking and drinking are not permitted on motor coaches. Additionally, smoking and/or vaping of any kind is forbidden on all vessels, including the Harbour Hoppers.

Are there washrooms on your vehicles and vessels?

The majority of our fleet have washrooms with the exception of our Executive Van, Antique London Style Double Deckers as well as Harbour Hoppers. All of our motor coaches have washrooms on board.
