"This was my first visit to Georges Island in Halifax Harbour. You take a ferry ride out to the island and you can stay as long as you like. You can take a picnic lunch and have your lunch on the island. There are several picnic tables there to use. You can take a picnic lunch and have your lunch on the island. There are several picnic tables there to use. You just have to be aware of when the last ferry of the day is. Interesting spot to see and how the island contributed to keeping the Harbour safe in the early days. There is a French and English tour available explaining the tunnels under the fort. Worthwhile to take the tour to see how the fort was defended. The ferry ride to the island is a short ride. It provides a great view of both the city of Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts."

"What a fantastic experience on Georges Island! Enjoy the boat ride out then explore the fort tunnels on a guided tour with Parks Canada staff. It was neat to see around inside and to hear that there are plans to open more areas for tours in the future. Definitely a summer must-do in Nova Scotia!"

"We really enjoyed our trip to Georges Island. The guided tour through the tunnels of the fort was very well done. The interpreter Alex who was our tour guide was very knowledgable. The ride aboard the harbour ferry was excellent as well. We had a picnic while waiting for the return trip (bring your own food or purchase the day in advance with your ticket). Highly recommended!"
