School Groups & Class Trips in Halifax

Explore, Learn, Have Fun!

Field trips provide students with a great opportunity to connect what they are learning in school with the outside world. Each student will get a new view and special experience that will stick with them for years to come. We are proud to offer a number of educational (and FUN) programs that will suit the needs of any classroom or grade.

Harbour Hopper Tours
All aboard Halifax's most popular boat tour – the Harbour Hopper Tour – a fun, fast-paced adventure by land and sea! From your seat aboard this impressive, retrofitted military vehicle, you'll have unparalleled views of Halifax’s most noteworthy sites, beautiful landscape, and historic and modern architecture. Your knowledgeable and entertaining guide will share historical facts and lesser-known stories about Halifax while even tossing in the occasional knee-slapper. After winding the streets of Halifax, your adventure continues as you SPLASH into the Halifax Harbour. Your driver is now your captain and there is more to explore! Keep your camera ready for unique photo opportunities of our active harbour, Georges Island National Historic Site, the Halifax Waterfront, and more. This award-winning, fully narrated amphibious tour is one you won’t soon forget!

Explore McNabs Island
Take your school group to McNabs Island for a day trip! Approximately 5-kilometers long by 1.5 kilometers wide, this island is situated near the mouth of Halifax Harbour. Filled with history and beautiful scenery, this island is a perfect destination for an educational outdoor excursion! Two historical highlights are the military forts that were established early in Halifax’s history as part of the Halifax Defense Complex - Fort McNab, a national historic site, and Fort Ives. Friends of McNabs Island Society is an excellent source of information for educators. Visit: mcnabsisland.ca/education to learn more.
