What’s New at Peggy’s Cove This Summer

What’s New at Peggy’s Cove This Summer — And Why You Can’t Miss It!

If Peggy’s Cove isn’t already on your summer bucket list, this your official sign to add it! Known for its stunning coastal views, crashing waves, and that iconic lighthouse, Peggy’s Cove has long been a Nova Scotia must-see. But this season, there’s even more reason to visit (or re-visit).

From tasty new food spots to beautifully restored heritage spaces, here’s what’s fresh, fun, and ready for you to explore in 2025:

Meet Hunky Dory: Gourmet Fries + Ice Cream by the Sea

Snack lovers this one’s for you!

Hunky Dory is a seaside take-out window serving gourmet french fries — from lobster poutine to donair fries — and  elevated soft serve treats, all just steps away from the ocean.

Named after a traditional Nova Scotia fishing vessel, Hunky Dory is all about East Coast comfort food with a view.

Cozy Up at Margaret’s Café

Step inside this warm and welcoming spot full of coastal character. Once a family home, this cozy café has been thoughtfully restored with hand-hewn beams and vintage maritime photos.

The menu offers locally roasted organic coffee, freshly pressed paninis, seafood chowder, and classic East Coast baked goods, all curated by Chef Dave McLachlan.

🏡 Six by the Sea

Hunky Dory and Margaret’s Café are part of Six by the Sea — a thoughtful initiative bringing six historic buildings back to life as vibrant hubs for local artisans, shops, and cultural experiences.

This also includes:

Holy Mackerel: Celebrating pride of place, Holy Mackerel is a whimsical retail shop in the heart of Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia. Featuring a curated collection of unique products and crafts by over 100 Atlantic Canadian artisans and vendors, Holy Mackerel showcases the best the East Coast region has to offer.
Spindrift Gallery: Originally constructed as an auxiliary building to a family home, Spindrift Gallery has been transformed into a main-floor art gallery. The gallery showcases historical exhibits and fine art by Atlantic Canadian artists.
The Schoolhouse: Built in 1839, The Schoolhouse has been a place of learning and worship, a gathering space, and the scene of artistic presentations. In 2025, its doors are open for The Schoolhouse Tour.

Together, these spaces keep Peggy’s Cove’s spirit alive while inviting both visitors and locals to eat, shop, and connect.
