Movie Night on Georges Island

Featured movie: The Lighthouse

Highlights

Experience Georges Island after hours for a movie night unlike any other! Hop aboard for an evening trip to Georges Island National Historic Site and settle in under the night sky for a screening of The Lighthouse. Starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, this acclaimed psychological thriller follows two lighthouse keepers stationed on a remote island as isolation, harsh weather and strange occurrences begin to take their toll. Fittingly, The Lighthouse was filmed right here in Nova Scotia, making Georges Island an especially perfect setting to experience the film. Surrounded by Halifax Harbour, the island’s own historic lighthouse and the dark waters of the Atlantic, you’ll be immersed in a setting that adds a whole new layer to the film’s eerie and isolated atmosphere.

A few things to keep in mind: There is no seating provided on the island, so bring your own chair or blanket, find your spot and get comfortable for a truly unique night at the movies. As the sun goes down, temperatures around Halifax Harbour and on Georges Island can get quite cool, especially this time of year, so be sure to dress warmly and come prepared for cool to cold conditions. Concessions will be available for purchase ahead of time, onboard and on the island.
